God is so good to us!

I just love when God gives us those little confirmations that we are on the right track...

If you read my last post, you know I was praying about moving forward and doing our adoption paperwork in faith that our little girl's file will be done.  We went on a date Tuesday night and so we finally had the chance to talk without children around and distracting us.  I laid out what God had been speaking to me.    Troy agreed and we made the decision to GO FOR IT!  This morning, I had JUST emailed our social worker (literally!) and clicked over to my google reader to read the blogs I follow.  This is the blog post I found waiting for me--- http://heartofthema tteronline. com/doe-the- nexte-thynge/

I especially loved the last 3 sentences... .  :-)

"Find the next thing to do, and then do it. The longer you spend agonizing over what to do, the more time you waste. Just do it!"

Joy and Laila (Kathy)
Aren't they just too cute for words?  And we only live 2 hours from Laila's family!

Laila and Ava
Ting Ting and Fiona
I love that these girls have each other right now, I love PHF!

Anyone else like mustard?

There is so much about this adoption that is not clear, but I am finally waking up to see God calling us to move forward in faith.  In the past couple weeks, I've felt it in small ways.  I've started collecting birth certificates and our marriage license and I've started work on an LOI and our financial documents....  but all this is playing it safe.  It isn't anything difficult or really "important" in the big sense to an adoption.  I mean they are, but they are only small checks offs on the BIG list of to do's.  They don't require much out of us in terms of commitment--time, financial, emotional, and social (yes, social, as in actually telling people that this is GOING to happen).

"Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and do not doubt in your heart but believe that what you say will happen, it will be done for you.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  Mark 11:23-24

That was what I read this morning in my quiet time---Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.--Have I been believing that we have already received it?   No.  I was playing with the notion and thinking about it and toying with it, but I have not been acting like I truly believed and received it.

We live by faith, not by sight - 2 Corinthians 5:7

Go and See was another message from God this week.  My sweet friend Nicole (Ava's Mama!) really said it well "You believe God FIRST and step out in faith and then God keeps his word."

I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 17:20

New pictures from a group that is at PHF right now!

What a blessing these pictures are--so see her so happy and beautiful!
And that amazing head of hair, don't you just want to run your fingers through it!

Oh Ting Ting, my  sweetheart, we are praying night and day for it to be God's will for you to be our daughter.  Our heart aches for you, we long to be your mama and baba....
We love you!

Thank you, Steve and Carrie!

Faith

Shaoey's TingTing fund

Shaoey is just sweet beyond words....  She has prayed for TingTing day and night for months.  She talks about her all the time--where she's going to sit, where she's going to sleep, that she's going to share her baba with TingTing, that her baba's going to buy matching clothes for the 3 of them, she'll share her toys.  She is very sad that TingTing is in China without a mama and a baba...  This weekend she took it one step further by setting up her own adoption fund for TingTing!!  Whenever she sees us with change, she asks for it to help bring sister home.   My heart sings with how amazingly sweet Shaoey is.  She's only 4 and has such a heart for God and for others.  This is Shaoey's TingTing adoption fund so far.  And she's only been collecting for a few days!

Our little artist!

wonderful mom traveled to SFCV this summer to do a mission trip.  She taught art there for a week.  I was recently hooked up with her and was able to buy some artwork that TingTing did this summer!  Here's some pictures of her and of her artwork!  How AWESOME is this????!!!

TingTing is right in front of the teacher.

Look at her adorable artwork!  She is quite the artist!

Her hair is so soft and silky looking.
(You're looking at the back of her head.)
I just want to stroke her head and kiss it and tell her how loved she is!
I want to hold her and just inhale her sweet scent...

Check out those girly tootsies!
Thank you, God, that there are wonderful people who are answering your call to care for the orphans.  How touching is this that our girl has a chance to get her toe nails painted...

Looks like she likes water!  That's a good thing since we have a pool in our backyard!  LOL

Ting Ting is being held by Dawn's daughter Mary Morgan behind her.
Dawn, thank you SO much!

I can't believe how blessed with pictures we are!

I found these on one of the yahoo groups I'm on.  My heart just bursts with each smile I see. It brings tears to my eyes as I think about the days, weeks, months, years that she has gone without a family and how badly I want to be her mama and wrap my arms around her and breathe her in and kiss her sweet fair head...

Look at this trio!  BFF!

I would LOVE all your prayers that it would be God's will for Ting Ting to join our family.  There is so much that has to be orchestrated for this to happen and it is only through God!

God bless!

This is too cute!

LOVE IT!
Ting Ting is #4 (yellow shirt and demin skirt).  Shaoey was tickled that they were walking in a train!  How I would love to be able to keep her in touch with her friends--Ava/Holly and Laila/Kathy.  It is pretty cool that Laila's family only lives about and hour and a half to two hours from us!

More pics!

A fellow PHF family recently traveled there to meet their daughter MengYan.  They were so kind to bring a package to TingTing for us.  They also took numerous pictures for us!  What a blessing!  These mean so much to a waiting parent, they are a lifeline...Thank you Ann!   Here are some of them!   The first 2 are of TingTing wearing the outfits we sent her!  All 3 girls wear the same size.  There's 6 months from TingTing to Shaoey and another 14 months to Grace, so 3 girlies within 20 months!

Oh that smile!   What a joyful girl!

Musings...

I am feeling kind of foggy and confused this morning about this adoption.  We did get some answers to DH's questions about her development....

Can she:
brush teeth without help? She needs a little help

dress self without help?  She needs a little help
understandable speech?  Yes
name 3 or 4 colors?  Yes
balance on each foot for 3 seconds? No
hop? No
throw ball? Yes
name friends? Yes
copy a "+" and an "O"? Yes
draw a stick person? Yes
build a tower with 8 blocks/cubes? Yes
count to 3 or 4? Yes

He said that was what he needed, but didn't give any indication what that meant... Doesn't seem to tell us much--she can and she can't... I went to bed feeling lost and like this wasn't for us.  Kind of empty feeling.  Scared...I've been reading up on hydrocephalus and sounds like there's so much more involved than either of our adoptions--possible surgery redo's if the shunt needs to be replaced because of blockage or her growth, learning disabilities, sometimes hydro have seizures/epilepsy, she may have weakness on one side...So much more than a cleft baby and missing an arm... DH's heart--he is in protective mode and I appreciate that.  But we are a little familiar with hydrocephalus as my sister was born that way, but she has so much more "wrong" with her than TingTing--cerebral palsy, vision and hearing impaired, mildly mentally retarded...

But then I woke up to "You are Great" by Terry MacAlmon:

You deserve the glory and the honor,
Lord we lift our hands in worship
and bless your holy name......(x2)

Chorus:

For you are great,
You do miracles so great,
There is no one else like you,
There is no one else like you......(x2)

I also woke to this Elisabeth Elliot's devotional....

There Are No Accidents

My friend Judy Squier of Portola Valley, California, is one of the most cheerful and radiant women I know. I met her first in a prayer meeting at the beginning of a conference. She was sitting in a wheel chair, and I noticed something funny about her legs. Later that day I saw her with no legs at all. In the evening she was walking around with crutches. Of course I had to ask her some questions. She was born with no legs; she had artificial ones which she used sometimes, but they were tiresome, she said (laughing) and she often left them behind. When I heard of a little baby boy named Brandon Scott, born without arms or legs, I asked if she would write to his parents. She did:

"The first thing I would say is that all that this entails is at least one hundred times harder on the parents than the child. A birth defect by God's grace does not rob childhood of its wonder, nor is a child burdened by high expectations. Given a supportive, creative, and loving family, I know personally that I enjoyed not a less-than-average life nor an average life, but as I've told many, my life has been not ordinary but extra-ordinary.

I am convinced without a doubt that a loving Heavenly Father oversees the creative miracles in the inner sanctum of each mother's womb (Psalm 139), and that in His sovereignty there are no accidents.

'What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Creator calls a butterfly.' As humanity we see only the imperfect, underside of God's tapestry of our lives. What we judge to be 'tragic--the most dreaded thing that could happen,' I expect we'll one day see as the awesome reason for the beauty and uniqueness of our life and our family. I think that's why James 1:2 is a favorite verse of mine. Phillips' translation put it this way: 'When all kinds of trials and temptations crowd into your lives, my brothers, don't resent them as intruders but welcome them as friends.'

I love Joni Eareckson Tada's quote. When I saw it on the front of Moody Monthly, October 1982, I was convinced she'd penned the words for my epitaph. Now my husband David is aghast to hear me say I want it on my tombstone! Glory be!

People with disabilities are God's best visual aids to demonstrate who He really is. His power shows up best in weakness. And who by the world's standards is weaker than the mentally or physically disabled? As the world watches, these people persevere. They live, love, trust and obey Him. Eventually the world is forced to say, "How great their God must be to inspire this kind of loyalty."

Being Christian didn't shield my family from the pain and tears that came with my birth defect. In fact, ten years ago when David and I interviewed our parents for a Keepsake Tape, I was stunned to hear my mother's true feelings. I asked her to tell the hardest thing in her life. Her response: 'the day Judy Ann was born and it still is....' And yet when we as a family look back over the years, our reflections are invariably silenced by the wonder of God's handiwork. Someday I hope to put it in a book and I know it will be to the glory of God.

Getting married and becoming a mother were dreams I never dared to dream, but God, the doer of all miracles intended that my life be blessed with an incredible husband and three daughters. Emily is nine, Betsy will soon be seven, and Naphtalie Joy is four. I've decided that every handicapped person needs at least one child. They are fantastic helpers and so willing to let me 'borrow their legs' when I need help.

You as a family have been chosen in a special way to display His unique Masterwork. I pray that your roots of faith will grow deep down into the faithfulness of God's Loving Plan, that you will exchange your inadequacy for the Adequacy ofJesus' resurrection power, and that you will be awed as you witness the fruits of the Spirit manifested in your family."

God, I want to be her mama so badly, I want us to be her family, I want to hold her tell her how much God loves her....  But more than anything, I want this to be Your will not our will.  I want Him to be glorified!

Praying for wisdom and guidance, to be open to the opening and closing of doors, for Him to rid me of my selfish desires and to fill me with desires that are in line  with His...

And Troy says.....

Yes!

Last night Troy came home with a Strasburg bag. He had Shaoey open it, I'm thinking it's a gift for the 2 girls. Shaoey takes out one dress, then she and Grace take out a second. I thought they were done, until they reached in and took out a third...all I could do was cry. Troy is ready to move ahead to try to adopt TingTing! We are still trying to find out some info on what she can do mentally. She seems fine in pictures and one short video I have of her. And then there's the small problem of finding her file and being matched with it, but that is God's specialty, isn't it---doing the impossible.

Here's a little background on Joy/TingTing:
We met TingTing when we were adopting Grace in December. She is a sweet little thing. The children and I have been praying for her ever since. We prayed for her to find a family and that if it was God's will, we would be that family. Shaoey talks about her every day as if she's already here. She tells us where TingTing's going to sit at the table, sleep, ride in the car....She tells us what we need to buy for her--most importantly MATCHING clothes! If you know anything about Shaoey, that is not a surprise! LOL TingTing is 4 1/2 years old. Her special needs are hydrocephalus and mild scoliosis.

"Joy"

Denise Austin email titled "Share the Joy"
Titus2 blog post Renewing My Joy--mentions the word "joy" 11 times!
The song during my morning exercise--This is How We Overcome by Hillsong :

Your light broke through my night
Restored exceeding joy
Your grace fell like the rain
And made this desert live

Chorus: You have turned my mourning into dancing
You have turned my sorrow into joy

Sending a care package to Joy

We sent a care package to Joy today. It has several outfits from Children's Place (the dress the girls are wearing is one of them!). I bought matching outfits for all 3 girls. It also has a couple books, a note with a prayer for her family, and several pictures of us and Grace (who use to live in the same house as Joy at PHF). Shaoey made a last minute addition to the package. Shaoey gets to pick a prize at speech. She chose a small lipgloss compact today. As we were getting ready to go in to mail the package, she put her lipgloss in the bag and said she wanted to give it to Joy...how sweet is this girl of ours?!
